The 11-day 2020 XL Inferno on 888poker wrapped up on Sunday night with the conclusion of a trio of Main Events. In the end, the 34-event schedule catered to 46,649 combined entrants and awarded $1,851,663 in prize money.

Here’s a look at some highlights from Sunday’s action.

“junijuniorz” Wins Main Event for $85K

The premier event on Sunday was the $250 buy-in Event #32: $500,000 GTD Main Event, which squeaked by its guarantee by attracting 1,623 players who rebought 523 times. That resulted in a $504,310 prize pool that was paid out to the top 207 players.

One player in action who failed to cash was 888poker Ambassador Martin “MJacobson888” Jacobson, who was eliminated in Level 21 (6,000/12,000/1,500). It happened when he moved all-in for 62,479 holding the K♥J♣ and “ArmaniGurk” called with the A♥10♥. The board ran out 4♥3♠9♦5♥6♦ and that was all she wrote for the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event champ.

Other 888poker Ambassadors who failed to cash were Ana Marquez. However, Dominik “888Dominik” Nitsche was able to cash finishing in 121st place for $806.89.

Others to cash the Main Event, which was live streamed on the 888poker YouTube channel and Facebook page with David Tuchman and Nick Wealthall offering commentary, included “TravelHustle” (96th - $958.18), “Perrymejsen” (79th - $1,059.05), Robin “Inho” Ylitalo (71st - $1,109.48), “LeetRunGoot” (44th - $1,412.06), “Diegoavc” (34th - $1,664.22), and Roman “EyeofSkadi” Matveychuk (29th - $1,664.22).

Matveychuk bowed out in Level 34 (60,000/120,000/15,000) when he raised to 240,000 holding the K♠K♥ and “CVriserio” three-bet jammed for 6.9 million with the 9♥9♣. Matveychuk called off for 3.17 million but suffered a bad beat when the 9♦10♦7♣ flop delivered “CVriserio” a set of nines. Neither the 2♠ turn nor J♣ river helped Matveychuk and just like that he was gone.

Others to cash on the way to the final table were “Hustlaaa” (21st - $1,916.37), “HateH4teHate” (17th - $2,269.39), “ribamech15” (12th - $4,236.20), and “pro100plr” (10th - $4,236.20).

In the end, the title came down to Lithuania’s “KofeBryant” and Sweden’s “junijuniorz.” After 12 hours and 36 minutes, the tournament came to a head in Level 46 (500,000/1,000,000/125,000) when “junijuniorz” min-raised the button and “KofeBryant” called to see a K♦9♣3♠ flop.

“KofeBryant” check-called a bet of 1,402.500 and then check-called one of 7,055,000 on the A♠ turn. When the K♠ completed the board on the river, “KofeBryant” checked for the third time and called off after “junijuniorz” moved all in. “KofeBryant” held the 9♥10♦ for two pair but it was no good as “junijuniorz” had the K♣J♦ for trip kings.

With that, “junijuniorz” claimed victory while “KofeBryant” had to settle for second place and $60,618 in prize money.
