The second Sunday in August was great value for players on 888poker. That’s because we once again hosted our famous “Sunday sale” promotion.

The promotion offered 50% off buy-ins for three of our most popular tournaments:

  • $100,000 Sunday Sale Mega Deep - $55 instead of $109.
  • $20,000 Sunday Sale Whale - $160 instead of $320
  • $15,000 Sunday Sale Monsoon - $27.50 instead of $55

Not only did players get a chance to play, but they had the opportunity to watch the action. The $100,000 Sunday Sale Mega Deep was streamed online. It was hosted by 888poker premier commentators David Tuchman and Nick Wealthall. Several 888poker Ambassadors joined them as guests including Vivian “Vivi” Saliba.

The trio of “Sunday Sale” tournaments all surpassed their guarantees. The trio wound up catering to 3,075 entries and awarded $154,275 in prize money.

Lithuanian Victorious in Sunday Sale Mega Deep

The $55 buy-in Sunday Sale Mega Deep attracted 1,358 players who rebought 526 times. The $100,000 prize pool paid out the top 162 finishers.

Among those to cash after “888pruha” bubbled in 163rd place were –

  • “Avskedad” (129th - $170)
  • “N33dCoaching” (88th - $220)
  • “DorianMD” (54th - $280)
  • “truffaldino.” (27th - $400)
  • “CVriserio” (17th - $480).

“CVriserio,” who hails from Brazil, exited when the blinds were 125,000/250,000/31,250. “Barrellina” raised to 500,000 from middle position and “CVriserio” three-bet jammed for 3,622,432 from the cutoff.

“SNICKERS05” then moved all-in over the top from the big blind, and “Barrellina” got out of the way.

“SNICKERS05”: A♦Q♦

“CVriserio”: Q♠J♠

“SNICKERS05” was way out in front. He stayed there, thanks to the ace kicker on the 6♣Q♥5♠ flop. The 7♦ turn left the Brazilian looking for a jack on the river to stay alive.

But it wasn’t in the cards as the 9♠ peeled off instead.

That hand gave “SNICKERS05” the chip lead. Hue used it to navigate a tough final table that included a trio of Canadians – “dujoe123” (7th - $2,950), “xMSTRKRFTx” (6th - $3,950), and “LeetRunGoot” (5th - $4,950).

Making the final table even more dangerous to navigate were the aforementioned “Barrellina” (4th - $6,800), and “SanduDumitru” (3rd - $9,490).

“SNICKERS05” wound up making it to heads-up play. After 10 hours and 44 minutes in the tournament, they defeated Brazil’s “boraodota” to win the title and $17,000 top prize.
