It took 888poker ambassador, Vivian Saliba a whopping seventeen hours of play to secure her first-ever bracelet. She finally broke the curse in Event #4: €2,000 Pot Limit Omaha at the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe.
She emerged victorious, outlasting 229 competitors to secure the win and the €91,400 first-place prize money. Also, capturing a slice of the €398,231 prize pool pie was Germany’s Markus Anheier (€59,700) after a short heads-up battle that spanned over two levels.
Vivian Saliba was the only female player in the event, but she is no slouch when it comes to PLO games. She got her start in poker, playing this very format in her native Brazil, so it’s fitting that her first bracelet should come in this event.
Since signing up as an 888poker ambassador in 2017, this win marks Saliba's second-biggest career score, sending her lifetime tournament earnings into the seven-figure plus stratosphere.
Vivi’s Reaction to Finally Getting the WIN!
Vivian’s reaction after finally getting her mitts on a coveted bracelet was naturally a mixture of excitement and relief:
"Relieved! This is my fifth live WSOP final table in bracelet events. I've also finished eleventh and twenty-second. I was just like, okay, please don't come second. I was really aiming for the bracelet.
“Of course, I feel happy, but to summarise my feelings in one word, it's relieved.”
When asked what drove her to secure this win? Desire and determination were the two prominent words that quickly came to mind:
"It was a real marathon. We played a lot yesterday, and I went to bed around 6 in the morning. I could concentrate - thanks to my experience and motivation, just because I really, really wanted to win.
“I'm very competitive and not even tired right now, I'm hyped!"
